New Delhi – Manpreet Vohra , presently Ambassador of India to Mexico, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia.
Ambassador Manpreet Vohra was born in Amritsar and grew up in Shimla and Chandigarh.e is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Ambassador Vohra joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1988 and first served in various capacities in Missions in Hong Kong, China and Mongolia. He then spent a year as a Chevening Scholar at the University of Oxford, studying for a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies, during which course he wrote a major research paper on ‘Diplomacy and Media Management’. Later, he was India´s Economic Counsellor in London (UK) and Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya. While in Nairobi, he was also Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme and to UN-Habitat.
