Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has banned the screening of Adipurush Indian film in cinema halls of Kathmandu. On June 18, Mr Shah ordered all cinema halls in Nepal’s capital to stop screening Bollywood. Mayer had given a three-day ultimatum to the producers of the film Adipurush, urging them to remove a portion that referred to Sita as “the daughter of India”. He said that if this is not rectified, till then no Hindi film will be allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The Censor Board of Nepal has also said that if this is not done then no Hindi film will be allowed to be shown in Nepal.
