Not only the name of the party but also the ground politics of the candidate is very important in the Lok Sabha elections. This was proved by Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad, elected in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Ayodhya, by defeating his rival BJP candidate Lallu Singh. 79-year-old Awadhesh Prasad is an Indian politician who is a Lok Sabha MP from Faizabad and a founding member of the Samajwadi Party (SP). He is currently the general secretary of the National Executive of the SP and was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly till 4 June 2024. He was elected MLA nine times from the then Sohawal (SC) constituency in 1977, 1985, 1989, 1993, 1996, 2002 and 2007 and latest from Milkipur (SC) in 2012 and 2022. He has become a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government six times and was a cabinet minister in four of them. He has old political relations with Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav.
