Hyderabad airport has introduced ‘therapy dogs’ to help passengers deal with stress and anxiety during travel. Passengers have seen a lot of benefits from this. Stress during air travel is often associated with long lines, unexpected delays and the mental burden of going to terminals. It has been seen that caressing a calm dog for a few minutes can reduce stress, especially for anxious passengers, solo travelers or children.
The aim of the therapy dog program is to improve the passenger experience by providing a unique interaction activity that helps passengers stay stress-free during their travel. The presence of therapy dogs is known to reduce anxiety, improve mood and make the airport environment positive and calm. They will only interact with passengers who voluntarily approach them, thereby relaxing the passengers.
Therapy dogs are known to provide emotional comfort, reduce stress hormones like cortisol, and increase serotonin levels.
