India Expands Fast-Track Immigration Services to 13 Airports for NRIs
New Delhi, October 2025: The Government of India has extended its Fast-Track Immigration facility for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders to 13 major airports across the country. This expansion aims to make immigration clearance faster and more convenient for millions of Indians living abroad who frequently travel to India.
The Fast-Track Immigration programme allows eligible travelers to use automated e-gates equipped with biometric scanners, significantly reducing wait times at immigration counters. Initially launched at four airports, the service now includes additional hubs such as Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, and more.
Officials have confirmed that more than 300,000 travelers have already enrolled in this facility, which helps streamline the arrival process, making it smoother for NRIs returning from countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, UAE, Australia, and Singapore.
“The government is committed to improving the travel experience for our overseas citizens by minimizing delays and leveraging technology at key airports,” said a senior official from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Experts believe that faster immigration will encourage more NRIs to visit India for family, business, and investment opportunities, which in turn could boost economic growth.
Travelers interested in enrolling can register online through official government portals and avail of this service free of charge.
