Born in Vrindavan, Mathura district, Krishna Kanhai is an Indian artist and painter who specializes in portraits, realistic, contemporary paintings and Lord Radha-Krishna theme paintings.

Krishna Kanhai started his journey as a painter at the young age of 15. He has created thousands of paintings based on the theme of Radha-Krishna and their stories, using beautiful postures as well as pure gold and various precious gems. He learned the art from his father Padmashri Shri Kanhai Chitrakar.

He started painting on public themes and developed the style of Yamuna Ghats, bringing alive the rural aspects of Braj, which has been highly glorified and appreciated by the media and experts. In his paintings, Krishna Kanhai has expressively carved the Indian rural environment.

Krishna Kanhai, the second generation of Kanhai art, was awarded the Padmashri (the highest civilian award in the Republic of India), conferred on him by the President of India. Krishna Kanhai is described as an artist with the Midas touch. He is a master of traditional gold paintings, portraits as well as contemporary paintings. However he did not limit himself to the traditional but contributed significantly to it by introducing many techniques that made the canvas aesthetically pleasing and spiritually rich. He started painting on folk themes and established his own style and school. ( Courtesy krishnkanhai website )
