India has initiated the process of developing the next generation two-seater electric trainer aircraft, Electric Hansa (E-Hansa).
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh said that it is a matter of pride that the new aircraft is being developed indigenously by CSIR’s Bengaluru-based National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL).
The Electric Hansa (E-Hansa) trainer aircraft developed by CSIR-NAL is likely to cost around Rs 2 crore which is expected to be significantly lower than the imported alternatives. It is almost half the price of imported trainer aircraft.
E-Hansa is part of the larger Hansa-3 (NG) training aircraft programme, designed as a cost-effective and indigenous alternative for pilot training in India.
