Hong Kong authorities banned Air Indias Vande Bharat Mission flights due to COVID-19 issues. Earlier Air India planned to operate two Vande Bharat Mission flights from Hong Kong to Delhi on 18 and 21 August. This was announed by Consulate General of India in Hong Kong.Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said in weekly press briefing that total of 10.5 lakh stranded persons have returned through various modes under the Vande Bharat Mission.Govt of China said that 11 COVID-19 positive cases were found on Delhi-Hong Kong flight on 14 August.
