Richard Halliburton’s Flying Carpet biplane flew over Taj Mahal in 1932. It was a surprising event for the people of Agra at that time. Richard Halliburton, American writer and explorer, and Moye Stevens, the pilot, were alone on board. The open cockpit biplane “Flying Carpet” took off in 1930 to fly to the far corners of the earth. It took 18 months to fly around the world, visiting 34 countries, with many stops along the way. In an unfortunate incident in 1939, Halliburton purchased a Chinese junk and while sailing from Hong Kong, he and the crew went missing. There is no trace of them and neither where they disappeared is known to this day.
