A small cantonment town located in the mountains of Uttarakhand, Landour still retains its old-world charm. This small town is so beautiful that it seems as if nature has left no stone unturned in giving it all the beauty. Landour is surrounded by mountains and the winters (snowfall season) here are amazing.
If Mussoorie is considered the queen of the mountains, then Landour is the crown. Landour is a small place built by the British for summer holidays. Despite being close to Mussoorie, it is amazingly untouched and unique.
Landour derives its name from Llandover, a small Welsh village in Great Britain. The symbolic clock tower in Landour marked the beginning of the area of the city where Indians were never allowed to go.
The beauty of Landour remains intact even in the industrial area and the reason for this is that it is protected under the Cantonment Act of 1924. Under this Act, all the trees and plants of Landour come under military protection. This is the reason why not a single tree has been cut in Landour since 1924.
