Paris – Till January 14, 2024, the Quai Branly Museum in Paris continues to attract those interested in Indian cinema. The exhibition, titled Bollywood Superstars, aims to tell the story of one of the world’s most prolific cinemas. With over 2,000 films produced every year, India is the leading cinema producer in the world today.
This Bollywood Superstars exhibition in Paris explores more than a century of Indian cinema, from its mythological and artistic sources to the symbols of the contemporary “star system”. The exhibition takes visitors through dance sequences and palaces from historical Indian films, offering a continuous dialogue between heritage objects and cinema. Over 200 works of art – paintings, silhouettes, costumes, photographs – reflect the popular arts, stories and artistic influences that gave rise to the dazzling and infinite world of Indian cinema.
