New Delh- The Government of India has officially replaced paper-based arrival and disembarkation cards with a fully digital system for international travelers entering the country. Effective from October 1, 2025, all foreign visitors must complete an electronic arrival card up to 72 hours before arrival.

New e-Arrival Card System to Streamline Immigration Processes from October 2025

Travelers can fill out the digital form through the Indian visa portal, the Bureau of Immigration website, or the official “Su-Swagatam” mobile app. The move aims to streamline immigration processes, reduce paperwork, and enhance the overall traveler experience at Indian airports.

A six-month transition period is in place during which paper cards may still be accepted, but officials encourage passengers to switch to the digital method for faster processing.

Immigration authorities highlight that the e-arrival system will improve accuracy, reduce errors, and help prevent fraudulent entries, while also speeding up clearance times.

Passengers are advised to complete the digital form well before their journey and retain digital confirmation receipts for presentation upon arrival.
