M Venkaiah Naidu,Former BJP President has said the party will not contest the next Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of L K Advani. In an interview to a private TV channel Naidu said that by the next general elections, Advani would be 87 years old and it would be logical that in such a scenario BJP would need a new leader.

Air India will be official carrier of Commonwealth Games 2010. The airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee to be the official carrier during the Games, which is scheduled to be held between 3rd and 14th October, 2010.
"Air India has become the first company to be associated with the Commonwealth Games, and we will put our best foot forward as an official carrier," Air India Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Jadhav said at the signing ceremony. He said that the national carrier would consider re-routing and upgrading of aircraft as per the requirement depending on the size |

Maharaja express,India’s first super-luxury train, in which a tourist has to shell out more than one lakh rupees per day, is all set to be flagged off from Mumbai in 2010.
The luxury train with 23 AC coaches will start its seven-day and six-night maiden journey, carrying 88 tourists to Delhi. It will cover Vadodara, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Agra on its way from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station on January 9. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the train will return to Mumbai via the same route from Delhi on January 17. While the minimum rate is being kept at 36000 rupees, the maximum is around over one lakh 12 thousand per day per person in the Maharajas’ Express. |

In the meeting of G 24 countries held at Istanbul , Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee was elected unanimously as the Second Vice Chair. Shri was also the Finance Minister in 1982-84 when India held the chair last time in G-24.
He would automatically become the 1st Vice Chair in 2010-11 and then in 1011-12 he would be the Chair of G 24 countries. Till now Syria was the Chair, Brazil was the 1st Vice Chair and South Africa was the 2nd Vice Chair. So from now onwards the Chair (Brazil), 1st Vice Chair (South Africa) and India (2nd Vice Chair) would all be countries that form part of the IBSA group. |
