A Group of Minister (GoM), headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, is meeting in New Delhi  to discuss the financial state of affairs and its restructuring and turnaround plan to take a call on government assistance to the ailing national carrier

Lok Sabha by-election, actor Babbar defeated Dimple PDF Print E-mail

      

ImageIn Firozabad Lok Sabha by-election, actor-turned- Congress candidate Raj Babbar defeated Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, by an overwhelming margin of 85,343 votes.

The seat was won in May by Dimple's husband Akhilesh Yadav, who retained Kannauj and gave up Firozabad. Babbar had lost from Sikri constituency in the May elections. BSP has made a surprise comeback in Uttar Pradesh. The Party wrested Powayan, Issuali, Hainsar Bazaar, Etawah and Bharthana assembly seats from Samajwadi Party while Padrauna and Jhansi from Congress. BSP has successfully retained its Lalitpur seat.

Indian privates airlines Jet Airways-Introduced new services on the Delhi-Chennai,Patna sectors PDF Print E-mail

Image Jet Airways will start new services on the Delhi-Chennai/Patna sectors, and on the Delhi-Raipur sector, from November 7.
 
Flight 9W 2213 will depart Delhi at 0540 hrs, arriving in Raipur at 0725 hrs. Flight 9W 2214 will then depart Raipur at 0800 hrs, arriving in Delhi at 0950 hrs, a jet release said here .

Flight 9W 2263 will depart Delhi at 1605 hrs, arriving in Chennai at 1840 hrs. Flight 9W 2264 will then depart Chennai at 1920 hrs, arriving in Delhi at 2200 hrs.

Flight 9W 2287 will depart Delhi at 1145 hrs, arriving in Patna at 1315 hrs. Flight 9W 2288 will then depart Patna at 1350 hrs, arriving in Delhi at 1525 hrs.

Private airlines Jet and Kingfisher hike fuel surcharge PDF Print E-mail
ImageKingfisher and Jet airlines have hiked fuel surcharge while some others including Spice Jet may soon follow. The fuel surcharges have been hiked by up to 200 rupees on domestic flights. The hike comes into force with immediate effect. The fuel surcharge on flights below 1,000 kilometers has been hiked by 100 rupees while for flights above 1,000 kilometers it would be 200 rupees, the airlines said. Air-carrier Spice Jet said that it was mulling a similar hike to partially offset increasing operating costs.
