Congress party favors the policy of General Secretary Rahul Gandhi of the party going alone in state elections, saying the suggestion has brought new hope in the minds of its activists.

"His (Rahul Gandhi's) policy to go it alone in the states, where Congress was in coalition with regional parties, has brought new hope in the minds of Congress activists from these areas," an editorial comment in the latest issue of party mouthpiece 'Congress Sandesh' said.

 Overseas Indians will get a chance to exercise their franchise from the next general elections. Announcing this at the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas Sammelan in New Delhi morning, the Prime Minister said he recognises the legitimate desire of Indians living abroad to exercise their franchise and to have a say in who governs India. He urged them to return home to join politics and public life.
