Indian origin man hand behind Yahoo! restructuring

An NRI man has been given a key role in the restructuring at Yahoo!. The new structure consolidates responsibility around two senior executives, Ash Patel, who has been with the company since 1996, and Hilary Schneider, both working under president Sue Decker.

Patel, as executive vice-president of the platforms and infrastructure division, has so far been responsible for an array of the company's technology infrastructure. ..

Record number of Indian tourists in Singapore

A record boost in the number of Indian tourists pushed visitor arrivals to a new record in May, according to tourism data released on June 28.

A total of 828,000 tourists visited Singapore last month, the 63rd consecutive month of record numbers and up 0.8 percent from the same period in 2007.


More than 4.25 million travellers visited the city-state during the first five months.


The breakdown showed 103,000 from India, a 60-percent increase over April's 63,000. The surge propelled Indians into the No. 2 spot on the list of arrivals.


Indonesians emerged on top with 136,000 visitors and those from China ranked third.
